The time of life comes when a reclining chair looks more and more inviting. A tired body and achy legs means you often sit on a chair ad just can't get comfortable. I certainly feel this when I sit in any chair.
A few years ago we decided to use reclining chairs to help make sitting easire. Now we have three kinds:
a manual reclining chair, oprated by a small handle on the side of the chair.
an electric two seater recliner settee with a buttons on the side of the settee
a rise recliner that a family friend used. It has a control panel connected by an electric wire.
Manual Recliner
The manual recliner was the first "assisted" chair we got. It is really quite comfortable but the mechanism is quite fast. You pull the handle and woosh, the leg support comes up and the back starts to recline. It has a chromed leather cover and it can get uncmfortabley warm. Nevertheless once you have got the right position it is a comfortable chair.
You do need to force the foot area down with your heels and this can be a bit difficlut if you have any lower leg issues.
Electric Recliner
The 2 seat electic recliner is again leather, however it is a nubuck type natural leather and so does not make you feel hot after sitting on it for a while. The electric controls bring the foor area up gradually and I much prefer this. As with the manual recliner, the back gradually reclines backwards. Again you can get quite comfortable on this it is a pleasant experience.
Electric Rise Recliner
We aquired our rise recliner chair after the death of a family friend. It is not leather but a heavy duty draylon finish. When you first sit on the chair it feels robust and functional rather than soft and inviting. However I find that this is an advantage rather than a disadvantage. There is more scope to change the seat position as this allows independent control of the foot rest and the back. It also has the added advantage of rising to make ti easier to get out of the chair if you have difficulty getting up.
I find the draylon fabri much more comfortable than either of the leather chairs. My body teperature is muchmore comfortable. I also find the robustness an advantage. I can sit in this chair for hours and feel much more comfortable than in the other chairs. This is not to decry the comfort of the other chairs, but for long term sitting this kind of chair wins out.
I have had to work on my computer for the last few hours and the rise recliner is my chair of choice.
