Still revelling from a successful collaboration with Latitude Group, last week we unveiled a unique multi-sensory exhibit featuring our Van Gogh collection* at Sydney InDesign 2015.
Participating in The Project, we teamed up with Daniel Dalla Riva, design director at Latitude Group, to create an experience for the senses, aptly titled La Parfumerie.
The Sydney Indesign event was held throughout the city’s CBD, with La Parfumerie by Karndean located at the Galleria in Australian Technology Park. Held from Thursday 14 to Saturday 16 August, the event brought together commercial design houses and leading creative figures from the architecture and design industry.
Our new Karndean Van Gogh collection made its debut, displaying the industrial wood inspired planks, the new designs set the vintage look for La Parfumerie – with visitors remarking on its realism, rich detail and rustic design.
“We are proud to be market leaders in luxury vinyl flooring and with that comes a responsibility to be constantly moving our designs and products forward,” said Alex Stock, Australian head of commercial sales for Karndean Designflooring.
Alex said: “Supporting ideas and talent within the industry is vital to encourage forward thinking and progression, and we pride ourselves on both.”
La Parfumerie was a ‘see, touch and smell’ experience positioned at the centre of our exhibition. The unique concept allowed visitors to interact and understand the inspiration behind the new collection.
“Our aim was to engage and excite the senses. We selected aromas that best represented the four inspiration woods of our Van Gogh Collection including French Oaks, American Redwood, Scottish Beech and Mexican Cypress. By adding the sensory process of smell to a product that is primarily sight and touch, helps bring a meaningful interpretation and connection to the range,” commented Daniel Dalla Riva.
Visitors keenly participated in our fragrance competition, attempting to match the four different fragrances to the four wood groups – congratulations goes to Rachelle Bakhos from the House to Home Finishes, Jessica Merrigian from The Peppermint Room and M. Gable for winning the La Parfumerie by Karndean fragrance challenge prize draw.
And a special thanks must go to Emma Leah from Fleurage, for helping us create the one-of-kind fragrances for our design collaboration.
