‘Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree, such pleasure do you bring me!’

The magical centrepiece of the season and the oldest tradition representing the winter festivities, the Christmas tree! Large or small, Norway Spruce or faux fir, we all love dusting off the decorations and dressing the tree – for most of us, it marks the start of the Holiday season.

Whatever your style or theme, we’re sharing some great tree decoration ideas, which you’ll love…

Beautiful Bows – once you’ve wrapped your tree in lights, before adding any ornaments or baubles, attach a series of matching bows. Supporting your colour scheme or theme, bows are easy to make and offer a sense of sweetness.

Glorious glitter – it’s the one time of year when a touch of sparkle is almost mandatory. Make it classy by adding glitter to those natural delights – large leaves, pinecones, cinnamon sticks, dried fruit, etc. Add a tie loop, and you have yourself a wonderful tree hanging that will highlight your decorative display.

Porcelain and ceramic details – if you adore a Christmas ornament, look to white ceramic decorations. You can mix snowflakes, birds, Christmas trees and stars, or stick to one shape – either way these decorative hangings will add light hearted style and texture to your holiday décor.

Wonderful wood grains – forever inspired by nature, the trend for bringing the outdoors in continues this year. Wood slices can be transformed into wonderful tree decorations so easily. All that is required is a thick branch, saw, drill and a piece of ribbon of your choice. Whether left bare or personalised, these ornaments are timeless and support any scheme.

Tree toppers – the essential finishing touch. The beauty of a classic star or angel is always a great choice, but we also love the alternatives. From Santa hats to birdhouses, depending on your creative talent and the sturdiness of your tree’s branches, perhaps try something a little different this year.
