National Custom and Self-Build Week 2018

National Custom and Self-Build Week 2018 will take place between the 7th-13th May and will include a series of events to help you discover the right route to your dream home.

Hosted by the National Custom and Self-Build Association (NaCSBA), it’s a chance for aspiring homebuilders to learn more about creating a dwelling that meets their lifestyle needs. This could be achieved through working with a custom build developer or local housebuilder, or managing a self-build project yourself or as part of a community group.

If you’re searching for a plot for your project, it’s also a great opportunity to sign up to your local Right to Build register via the Right to Build Portal.

Every council in England is required to keep a list of individuals and groups who want to build their own home. A duty is then placed on local authorities to meet this demand within three years of sign up.

Michael Holmes, NaCSBA’s Chair, said: “NaCSBA believes that people commissioning or building their own home will play an increasingly important role in delivering the Government’s objective to build 300,000 new homes per year.
